Alright, so the premise here is to use your own stash. Don't go buy new goodies, use what you have. You have no idea how hard that is. lol! Well, I embraced the challenge. Sort of.... I took kind of a broadish view of "Bead" here. But I did stick to the "hoarder" part! So, here goes!!
Alright, so I started by remaking a bracelet I started last year. I wanted to use my fabulous Magic beads from Lampwork Beads by Linda, but the cuff blank I made was too big for my wrist. So, I took it apart, salvaged the beads, and started fresh. Here's the finished cuff:
I've had these beads for at least a year... Aren't they gorgeous? :)
Now, the original cuff blank, that I made last year? Yeah, used that too:
This elephant focal is from Amy of Flamekeeper Beads, and I know I bought that in 2012. And there's 2 more lentil beads from Lampwork Beads by Linda, and a bunch of fun colorful Czech glass and Swarkies from my favorite bead shop, Sparkle Spot Beads.
Next, I wanted to make earrings. Specifically, I wanted to make frog earrings, since my name means frog (in Latin and Spanish). And of course, I have frog beadies! So, that's where these came from:
The frog cap is from Amy of Flamekeeper, while the fabulous flowers are all from Heather of Blissful Garden Beads. I love a good mismatched earring! :)
And I wanted more earrings, but remember how I said I stretched the definition of "bead"? Yeah, well, I kinda hoard tutorials, too. So, I dug out a fun little wire wrapping tutorial from Nicole Hanna Jewelry ("Fun and Funky Earrings: Mini tutorial") and made a few pairs of those:
Not only did I hoard the beads in these, I hoarded the wire, too. lol!
I had a few more bracelet ideas strike while I was working on the more time consuming pieces above, so I dug out some more fabulous beads:
Lampwork beads by Flamekeeper, and netted pearl section by me! |
Lampwork rounds by Linda, and the sand dollar is by Radiant Mind |
And there's that stretchy definition of "bead" again... I made the "fuzzy" beads out of Wooly Wire I've been hoarding for at least 6 months... lol! You can find the wire from Starry Road Studio, and the tutorial for the spiral beads from Art Jewelry Elements.
And finally, I was REALLY wanting to finish the key chain idea I had in February... So, I did:
All the frame and the spiral were hand formed by me, then I used Swarkies, Czech glass, and one last lampie from Linda to finish this off. The frame is brass, and the wrapping wire is a lovely metallic green. I LOVE this piece!
So there you have it... Since the sign ups for this blog hop back on June 20th, I have been a designing fool! :) And I have to say, I really love everything I made! I'm actually happy with all of it! I knew I'd bought all those beads for a reason! lol!
